A professional artist since 2006, Sudakshina exhibited her works done with traditional and non-traditional mediums and had several solo exhibitions. Her works are with collectors around the world.

Since 2012, she has been painting with coffee, a natural, environment-friendly medium which she makes with spent coffee grounds. Painting with coffee has helped her to explore the possibilities of creating desired textures and other effects with a non-traditional medium. She finds coffee to be a versatile medium allowing her to use techniques similar to painting with water color and acrylic or her favorite monochromatic medium, charcoal.

While she pursued a career mainly as a teacher of Chemistry and Math in middle and high school for almost three decades, art remained her constant companion throughout life. She performed as a singer and dancer, and was a professional bridal make up artist. She was assigned to teach art and participate in various artistic activities in the schools where she taught. It helped her learn about the culture of the places where she lived within India and abroad. Pursuing art courses and visiting museums around the world helped her gain knowledge and skill, but she believes that the courses are only guidelines for an artist to go on experimenting and exploring in order to express their mind.

According to Sudakshina, painting with coffee allows her to see the beauty of silence. By leaving behind the unending display of colors, it helps her to see something our eyes cannot see, "the world within" .
